I finally decided to sit down and do some writing today. It's been so hot the last two weeks, so it has been easy to sit and have no motivation to do anything. This weather has all but destroyed most of my garden. Tomato season ended early due to cool nights and hot days, cucumbers did not flourish at all. My kale, Mexican squash, and longevity spinach have endured. My new fascination is with herbal remedies. I have made several batches of dandelion root/leaf tea as well as bay leaf tea. My next adventures will be with fig leaves and an attempt to find clean wild lettuce. I have set the goal of attempting a sourdough starter when the weather cools. I am excited to take on that challenge. Memories of my grandmother baking bread, the aroma filling the house with deliciousness is something I look forward to replicating. Does anyone have suggestions of other homesteading goals to set?
